Pungahan: Tradisi dan Perubahannya di Jambi Luar Kota 1980-2022

Abstract

Culture is a habit in life that has been created from the time of our ancestors and passed down from generation to generation to their successors. The many cultures and traditions in Indonesia make Indonesia a country rich in culture. One culture that exists in Javanese society when they want to welcome the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan is the Pupload tradition. This study aims to find out why the Javanese transmigrant community in Jambi Luar Kota District is still carrying out the punggahan tradition and finding out the changes in the punggahan tradition in Jambi Luar Kota District from 1980 to 2022. This article uses four historical methods: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The influence of globalization and the influx of newcomers is part of the influence of the change in the punggahan tradition in Jambi Outer City District, Muaro Jambi Regency. This change is caused by the changing times and the simplification of the upload tradition without reducing the essence of the upload itself.
